The Isaiah Foundation has a dual mission:
- Provide basic needs for orphans and transitional young adults.
- Connect and assist perversely low-income communities around the world with the resources to rebuild, restore and release their potential.
Our focus and action plan to meet these needs are rooted in our passion to make a profound difference and to be ambassadors, tangibly demonstrating the love of God. Hence, we will share the Gospel and change one life at a time, claiming His promise in Isaiah 61, to bind up the broken hearted and set the captives free.
Isaiah 61 : 1-3
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come … To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.
Haiti Project: Jacmel
Haiti, well known for being the poorest nation in the western hemisphere has a population of over 9 million. Although poverty has been a way of life for much of the population for multiple generations, the January 12, 2010 earthquake shook more than just the land. The earthquake killed nearly 300,000 and added more than a million to the preexisting homeless population, many who struggle daily for mere survival. These marginalized and ever growing portions of Haiti are in desperate need of food, clean water, shelter, and proper medical treatment. One of the core values of the Isaiah Foundation is to bring the full Gospel to a hurting and broken world.
The Transition Home:
Our vision begins with a transition home for up to fifty young men and women, ages 16-18. These adolescents have aged out of the traditional orphanages, and have nowhere to go but into a society with an 80% unemployment rate, and an extremely unsafe environment. Many have no choice but to turn to crime and the sex trade for mere survival. Our goal for the youth under our care will be to provide a loving, Christ centered home-like environment with components of education, life skills and character development, career planning, family values and spiritual strengthening. Ultimately, upon leaving the transition home, these men and women will be prepared to live a Spirit filled, prosperous, and productive life. Each will be encouraged to embrace a philosophy of restoration and rebuilding of their own country. Hence, the fruit of their learning will illuminate the progress of Haiti.
Beach Church:
Although there are many churches in the area, even some of the traditional churches don’t welcome the poor in Haiti because of their outward appearance. We will conduct church on the beach with a feast to feed their souls, and their stomachs. This church will be a reflection of Jesus’ ministry. Services will be held outside, overlooking the ocean, in hopes of welcoming ALL who want to come regardless of their condition. The message will consistently reflect the love God has for them, as well as worship they can easily identify with. This style of service not only will reach more Haitian people, it will also be economically appropriate, as the cost will be minimized due to the fact there will be no building costs. Therefore, we can focus on what really matters and making sure we are taking care of their basic needs; giving them food, clean water and a place to worship.
International School of Ministry:
Traditional Bible schools and seminaries truly have their place in the Kingdom, although these formal training institutions are often not available in third world countries. We want to teach and train not only the locals, but also anyone from around the world who has a heart for Haiti. The practical application of Biblical ministry will be administered through the book of Acts model, just as the disciples learned from Jesus how to change the world by His example. This model will focus on filling the students up with the love of God and the Holy Spirit, anchored in the Word, so they can be released into Haiti with power to make a true difference, one person at a time.
Orphanage:
Statistics indicate, worldwide more than 26,000 children die EVERY day from preventable causes related to their poverty. It is estimated there are over 140 million orphans across the globe due to a variety of reasons. Some are due to conflicts of war, many from the AIDS pandemic, while more find themselves alone because of natural disasters.
Haiti is no exception to this crisis, with an estimated 400,00 million orphans, many of these children are left to fend for themselves. Many die from lack of proper care at early ages. Haiti’s rural areas and tent cities are scattered with the graves of those children who didn’t have any formal structure or anyone to care for their needs. There is nothing more heartbreaking than holding dying children, knowing you have no resources to give many of them relief or the help they truly need. Their begging eyes continue to wish for better, and there is often no way to help.
We want to intervene on behalf of as many orphans as possible, utilizing graduates from the transition home as well as women, widows, and grandparents from the local communities, led by our team and staff.
